Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science – KFAS

The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences – (KFAS) is a private non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the progress and advancement of science and technology. Established by an Amiri decree in 1976, H.H. the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah continues to chair the Foundation’s Board of Directors, with private sector companies contributing 1% of their annual net profits to the Foundation.

The main objective of KFAS is to stimulate creative initiatives and promote the construction of a solid scientific and technological base while at the same time creating an environment that encourages innovation. Current projects include widening the public awareness of science, creating an environment in which innovation can flourish, and enhancing private and public sector research capacities. KFAS also works with talented and gifted individuals and gives them the financial and practical support they need to turn their ideas into reality.

KFAS has developed a strategy for effectively investing its limited resources so as to ensure the Foundation is able to achieve its vision with maximum impact and minimum levels of risk.
